New Delhi: The National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), in collaboration with Jamia Senior Secondary School, organized “Dastan-e-Jamia” alongside other cultural and literary events, accompanied by a three-day book fair. On this occasion, NCPUL Director Dr. Shams Iqbal expressed, “Seeing these students, I feel India’s future is bright and promising. These young minds will play a crucial role in our nation’s growth and progress. We are hosting this program at an institution that has successfully completed a hundred-year journey. Over such a long period, many needs have changed; the requirements of the past differ from those of today. In our times, knowledge, skills, and training are essential. If teachers focus on these three aspects while guiding and educating students, they will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the nation’s development.”

 

The event commenced with an inter-school debate competition. The first prize was awarded to Mohammad Hazaifa (Anglo-Arabic Senior Secondary School), the second prize to Aamna Ansari (Syed Abid Hussain Senior Secondary School), and the third to Ariba Shah (Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School), with a consolation prize for Maryam (Jamia Senior Secondary School). The Anglo-Arabic Senior Secondary School team won the debate, while Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School took second place.

 

In the bait-baazi (poetry recitation) competition, Mohammad Hazaifa (Anglo-Arabic School) won first place, Mohammad Shahid Alam (Jamia Senior Secondary School) won second, and Adeeba Mukhtar (Syed Abid Hussain Senior Secondary School, Jamia Millia Islamia) won third. Maria Faisal (Rabia Public Senior Secondary School) received a consolation prize. The winner was Momin team from Anglo-Arabic Senior Secondary School, while the Ghalib team from Jamia Senior Secondary School came as runner-up.

 

In the ghazal singing competition, Mahim Imdad from Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School won first place, Mohammad Hamza from Anglo-Arabic Senior Secondary School took second, and Samiya from Jamia Senior Secondary School placed third. The consolation prize was awarded to Amna Khan from Rabia Public Senior Secondary School. The Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School team emerged victorious, while Anglo-Arabic School secured the second position.

 

Students from various institutions, including CWCC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Memorial Society, Syed Abid Hussain Senior Secondary School, Jamia Middle School, and Khadija-tul-Kubra Girls Public School, also participated in these competitions.

 

Dr. Mohammad Arshad Khan, Principal of Jamia Senior Secondary School, delivered the welcome address. “Dastan-e-Jamia,” a performance written by Professor Danish Iqbal, was staged by Dr. Javed Hasan, Qasid Raza, Syed Tajammul Islam, Mohammad Adil, and Anas Farooqi. Dr. Abdunnasib, Dr. Rehman Musawwir, and Dr. Wahid Nazir served as judges for the debate, ghazal singing, and bait-baazi competitions.

 

Distinguished guests, including Professor Shahpar Rasool (Vice-Chairman, Urdu Academy Delhi), Dr. Athar Farooqui (General Secretary, Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu Hind), Dr. Shama Kauser Yazdani (Assistant Director, Academics, NCPUL), and Dr. Masarrat (Research Officer), attended the event. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Ziyadi, Kanchan Bhardwaj, and other teachers from Jamia Senior Secondary School contributed significantly to the program's success.
